Manifesto praising the God Almighty for delivery of Russia from the enemy’s invasion, 25 December 1812
According to the Russian Orthodox tradition, which was founded in the Russian Army after the victorious ending of the Patriotic War, all military garrisons were obligated to pronounce, in the most solemn manner, the “Imperial Manifesto praising the God Almighty for delivery of Russia from the enemy’s invasion”, issued by the Czar Alexander I on 25 December 1812. On 8 January 2008, at the Cathedral of the Christ the Savor (Moscow), several reenactment groups, such as “Fatherland” (The Life-Guard Regiment) and “Moscow Militia” held the event commemorating the first pronouncement of that historical Manifesto and 130th anniversary of the Balkan War (1877-78), which liberated brotherly Slav nations from the Ottoman domination. We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the administration and management of the Cathedral of the Christ the Savor as well as to the All-Russian Society of Military History and its President, Mr. Oleg Sokolov, for their help and assistance in organizing this event. We also would like to thank all those who accepted our invitation and took part in this happening thus making it for all of as an unforgettable experience.
